AHMEDABAD:
A girl died after falling from the terrace of a building in Ramol. The incident
took place when she was flying a kite on Wednesday evening.
Eight-year-old Nidhi Chauhan, a resident of Bhimnath Society in
Isanpur, was later declared dead at LG Hospital where she was rushed to after
the incident.
According to Ramol police station officials, Nidhi, a
class III student, was fond of flying kites and whenever she could lay her hands
even on used kites and thread, she would rush upstairs and try to fly them. On
Wednesday though, she became so engrossed that she tried to catch the kite when
it went out of reach and plunged down from the two-storeyed
building.
"She fell after her feet got caught in the thread on the
floor. As she fell from the second storey, she sustained head injuries along
with internal bleeding. She was rushed to LG Hospital where she succumbed late
on Wednesday night," said a Ramol police station official.
The city
police officials have cited the incident as the first Uttarayan-related accident
to took place in the city. Last year, more than 45 incidents were reported on
and before Uttarayan where people got injured due to fall from terraces or cut
by the glass-laced thread.
