BANGALORE:
A three-day national convention for architects will be held here from December
10 to 12. This was announced by the Indian Institute of Architects, Karnataka
chapter, on Thursday.
The convention, to be held at the NIMHANS
Convention Centre, will highlight architects' challenging roles and contribution
as well as enrich working relationships among them.
"Our aim is to
create a platform for our members to interact with experts in the industry. Over
1,000 architects, urban designers, planners, project management professionals,
faculty, builders and students are expected to attend," said T M Thomas of
Thomas Associates and convener of the seminar.
Some of the
participants are Will Alsop, Alsop Architects, London; Gary Lawrence, Urban
Strategies; George Ferguson, former president, RIBA; James Law, Cybertect; Paul
Lukez, founding principal, Lukez Architecture, USA; Cengis Bektash, architect,
planner and poet from Turkey; Kenneth Yeang, architect and environmentalist;
Peter Stutchbury, Peter Stutchbury Architecture, Australia; Dickson Deshpommier,
professor, environmental sciences, Columbia University, USA and Thomas J
Campanella, assistant professor, University of North Carolina, USA.
