CHENNAI: Another heavy spell of rain
cannot be ruled out in the coming days, with a depression developing 1,200 km
south east of Chennai in the Bay of Bengal.
India Meteorological
Department (IMD) officials, however, said there would not be rain in the next
couple of days as the depression had remained stationary through the course of
the day. The depression had formed earlier in the day over the Bay of Bengal and
was threatening to move towards the Tamil Nadu coastline. Officials said that
this movement did not take place and the city and the rest of coastal Tamil Nadu
were safe from heavy rain for a few more days to come. However, if the
depression moved towards the coast without weakening, it could bring rain.
Officials said that the depression would gradually move towards the
Tamil Nadu coast in a West to north-west direction.
