CHANDIGARH: The brother of Kuldeep Singh, a graduation student who was shot dead by the police in Haryana's Bhiwani district, will be granted a government job, an official said on Friday.

"The Haryana cabinet, which met here on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has decided to provide a government job to the brother of Kuldeep Singh," said a Haryana government spokesperson here on Friday.

Kuldeep, 22, a final-year graduation student, was returning home on November 2 after a party when a group of policemen shot him in the head at point-blank range in Bhiwani, around 300 km from here. The student, who was to get married soon, died on the spot.

Following the incident, the case was registered against the accused policemen and a compensation of Rs.5 lakh was announced for the victim's family by the state government.
