CHANDIGARH: The rape case that shook
the foundations of Haryana Raj Bhawan early this year, took a new turn when the
38-year-old victim failed to identify the accused. The victim, whose statement
was recorded in the court of additional district and sessions judge RK Sondhi on
Tuesday, said she was raped on February 21, but she doesnt remember
accused’s faces.
The UT police had arrested two commandos of
Haryana police — Vijender Singh and Dinesh Kumar — attached with the
security wing of governor AS Kidwai. Later, Situ Ram, their accomplice, was also
arrested.
“The victim could not identify any of the accused,
but there are enough evidence against them,” sources said. The positive
DNA report of all accused and statements of witnesses, including Mahavir Singh,
who was also in the auto in which victim was travelling, are enough to nail the
accused, they added.
The incident that disgraced the Haryana Police,
took place in the wee hours of February 21 when an employee of a prominent
caterer was dragged out of an auto-rickshaw and raped inside the police camp.
