The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum directed DTDC Courier and Cargo
Limited Company to pay Rs 15,000 as consolidated amount of compensation and
litigation expenses to Deepak Kumar of Barnala.

Sharma and member Harvinder Sharma, while passing the order on Wednesday,
directed the company to comply with the orders within 60 days.
Deepak complained before the forum that he had applied for the
appointment of assistant manager (system ) in State Bank of India (SBI), central
recruitment and promotion department, Mumbai, on August 6, 2007, and had sent
his application through District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum at Barnala.
"I had handed over the parcel with necessary certificates and the
demand draft duly addressed. The company assured me that the parcel would be
delivered to the addressee within two days but that did not happen," claimed
Deepak, ruing the fact that as his application was not delivered in time, he
failed to appear in the written examination on October 7, 2007.
He
alleged that he approached District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum a number
of times but to no avail and ultimately , on November 7, 2007, his parcel was
returned to him in a torn envelop without any report.
The
complainant had claimed Rs 10 lakh as compensation along with interest and Rs
22,000 as litigation expenses, contending that he had spent Rs 40,000 for two
months of coaching for the written examination in Chandigarh.
