DELHI: The weekend is going to see around 10,000 marriages taking place and for
those Delhiites not attending any function, avoid getting out as you might get
stuck in a traffic jam.
Said Neeraj Sharma from Ram Mandir: "Around
10,000 marriages are expected to take place in the city over the weekend. The
next heavy wedding dates in this year are going to be on December 3 and 12.''
While farmhouses and banquet halls are supposed to provide for adequate parking
space, none of them make necessary arrangements causing cars to be parked on the
roads.
Said Shweta Roy: "I have to attend two marriages on Saturday
and will have to get out by 7 pm to ensure I get to both as there is bound to be
huge traffic jams on the roads especially around Chhatarpur area.''
Said an employee of an event management company: "Banquet halls,
farmhouses etc have been booked as long back as a year by people.'' While bands
are not allowed to play after 10 pm as per rules set by Municipal Corporation of
Delhi, this rule is being openly flouted by people, along with others such as
not allowing horse-drawn carriages on roads outside
farmhouses.
