AHMEDABAD:
A rocket lands on the surface of the moon. As weary astronauts file out, a
familiar sign beckons them. A huge board proclaims: 'Patel Motel'.
That's a glimpse of the future
for you - Gujarat's future, portrayed in a film,
'Gujarat: Gaikal Aaj
Ane Avtikal'
, shot exclusively for the
three-day extravaganza Chaalo Gujarat, the World Gujarati Conference to be held
at New Jersey from Friday.
And,
also to be unveiled exclusively at the show are an anthem for Gujarat -'Yaahom
Gujarat' - and a play portraying the trials and tribulations of NRGs settled in
a faraway land.
The theme of
the anthem is 'Chak de Gujarat', conceptualized and written by creative head of
Radio Mirchi Chirag Tripathi and popular radio jockey Dhvanit
Thaker.
"Gujarat today is
robust in all areas and 'yaahom', a word first used by Kavi Narmad in one of his
war poems, inspires and eggs on Gujarat to greater glory," says Tripathi. The
anthem is in three stanzas, talking about the past, present and future of
Gujarat.
If 'Yaahom Gujarat'
makes one feel proud of his home, the film evokes strong feelings for Gujarat.
It revolves around a young NRG Alap Patel, and his grandfather who introduces
him to the wonders of Gujarat.
Another event exclusively
prepared for New Jersey is a play, 'Air
India 75: From
Narasanda to New York'
, penned by
playwright Saumya Joshi focusing on diaspora pangs and life on foreign shores.
