HYDERABAD:
Police on Wednesday arrested two persons and seized huge quantities of explosive
material from their
possession.
K Venkata Reddy,
45, of Choutuppal in Nalgonda was caught by the Phadesharif police while
conducting routine vehicle checking at Jelpally gate on Wednesday afternoon.
"He was travelling in an auto
and when we checked the auto we found 950 gelatin sticks, 550 electric
detonators and three bundles of fuse wire in a polythene bag," Pahadesharif
inspector M Muthyam Reddy said. After questioning him, police learnt he had a
licence to store and sell
explosives.
"He has a storage
facility at Itkyal in Mahbubnagar district. But he sold some explosive material
to Shankar, a construction supervisor of Fab City, who does not have a permit.
So, they are arrested," Muthyam Reddy
said.
Police seized 150 gelatin
sticks, 620 electric detonators and 150 kilos of ammonium nitrate from Shankar's
possession. Police arrested the duo and slapped cases under the AP Explosives
Act against them.
They were produced
before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
