PATNA: Piyush Prakash, a 13-year-old
resident of MIG Colony-Kankerbagh who was feared kidnapped from near his house,
had in fact gone to the Sonepur fair, across the Ganga, for a joyride. The boy
was spotted by the Kankerbagh police near Tiwari Bechar late on Wednesday night
and restored to his parents.
According to police, Piyush had also
stolen the ATM card of his father Sri Prakash Singh, posted as marketing officer
in the supply department of Jharkhand government, and withdrawn Rs 8,000. After
he spent the money, the boy came back to the state capital and was standing near
Tiwari Bechar when police spotted him.
Since his father and mother
had gone to Chhapra to see his grandmother, the boy was left here under the care
of his grandfather Kaushal Kishore Sharma. On November 18 evening when Piyush,
playing in the neighbour’s house, did not respond to Sharma’s call,
the latter became suspicious. Despite frantic search, the boy could not be
traced out. Finally, Sharma reported the matter to Kankerbagh police and
suspected that the boy might have been kidnapped.
Meanwhile, police
arrested one Anil Kumar from near Secretariat on Thursday on the charge of
killing his wife.
A resident of Shahpur village of Bhojpur district,
Anil had reportedly burnt his newly-wed wife on November 17 last and had since
then been absconding. He would be handed over to the Bhojpur police for follow
up action.
