DARBHANGA: While formally inaugurating
the fourth government engineering college on the trot in Bihar on Thursday,
chief minister Nitish Kumar announced that state government would open three new
engineering colleges in the next session. Five medical colleges will also be
opened.
Amidst the murmur in the wake of renaming and revival of
Jagannath Mishra Institute of Technology (JMIT) as Darbhanga Institute of
Technology, the CM asserted the state government is committed to open more and
more technical institutions to upgrade academic opportunities in Bihar. Three
new government engineering colleges would be opened at Madhepura, Sitamarhi and
Begusarai and five new medical colleges are on the cards and nod from MCI is
awaited.
“Those, who have not noticed the perceptible change
in ambience since the NDA regime took over, should see an eye specialist,”
the CM said.
Addressing a gathering at Mabbi, on the outskirts of
the town, on the commencement of new session at the revived engineering college,
the CM took a dig at his adversaries, saying: “People, who often used to
say that development had no linkage with cultivation of vote, have now begun to
talk about it. We don’t want to see our people go to outside to make both
ends meet. However, those who want to move outside or abroad for better
prospects and earn a name for themselves, state and country is a good
reason.”
The CM said an increase of as many as 780 seats in the
engineering colleges in government sector has become obvious after inauguration
of technical college at Gaya, Nalanda, Motihari and Darbhanga. The CM said he
conceived the idea to form urban development authority after noticing a messy
civic condition at Darbhanga town.
As many as 148 students, including
23 girls, have taken admission at Darbhanga Institute of Technology.
